In de Engelse Premier League stond woensdagavond de geladen stadsderby tussen Manchester United en Manchester City op het programma. Een clash die van cruciaal belang was binnen de titelstrijd. Jammer genoeg zagen we maar één landgenoot aan de aftrap verschijnen.
Kevin De Bruyne is immers geblesseerd, terwijl Romelu Lukaku op de bank van United moest beginnen. Vincent Kompany verscheen echter wel aan de aftrap. De aanvoerder van City hield zich defensief wel staande, maar had zijn handen meer dan vol met de snellere United-aanvallers. Bovendien leed hij veel balverlies in het uitvoetballen. Op de sociale media krijgt hij dan ook heel wat kritiek over zich heen, heel wat fans vinden dat City volgend seizoen een nieuwe leider voor de defensie moet aanduiden.
