Na 45 minuten spelen op de voorlaatste speeldag van La Liga, heeft Real Madrid de landstitel zo goed als binnen. Terwijl achtervolger FC Barcelona met een 0-1-achterstand de rust in ging tegen Osasuna, stond de Koninklijke 1-0 voor tegen Villarreal. Het aandeel van Eden Hazard in die voorsprong was echter beperkt.
Nadat hij enkele duels geblesseerd moest toekijken, werd de Rode Duivel weer in de basis gedropt voor de kampioenenwedstrijd. Maar in de eerste helft liet hij geen overtuigende indruk achter. Al had dat ook veel met de tegenstander te maken. Bij bijna elke actie die onze landgenoot inzette, werd hij foutief gestopt. De ene overtreding was al smeriger dan de andere. Op de sociale media komt er dan ook heel wat kritiek op de defensie van Villarreal.
