Thibaut Courtois kende een moeilijke start bij Real Madrid, mede door de tegenvallende resultaten van de ploeg. Maar de voorbije weken lijkt de doelman van de Rode Duivels het kritische Real-publiek helemaal voor zich gewonnen te hebben met enkele sterke prestaties. Ook zaterdagavond tegen Rayo Vallecano onderscheidde hij zich weer.
Real won met 1-0 en dat had het in grote mate aan Courtois te danken. De keeper pakte in blessuretijd uit met een knappe en belangrijke dubbele redding en stelde op die manier de zege veilig. De lof op sociale media was dan ook navenant.
