Marc Wilmots is een nieuwe teleurstelling rijker als bondscoach. Na zijn ontslag bij de Rode Duivels, werd de oud-spits opgevist door de Ivoriaanse voetbalbond. Maar ook daar faalde hij in zijn opdracht: de Oranje Olifanten werd zaterdagavond uitgeschakeld in de voorrondes van het WK.
De cijfers van Wilmots als bondscoach van Ivoorkust zijn allesbehalve voldoende: in vijf duels werd maar één keer gewonnen en drie keer verloren. Door het mislopen van de kwalificatie lijkt hij eerstdaags ook te mogen beschikken. Op de sociale media zijn de reacties alvast vernietigend.
